A Few Ways to Customize Your Online Lifestream

It seems as though the more blogs get popular, the more they are starting to fade away. Blogs are old news now (in terms of the way we see the internet of course). Many designers, developers, and entrepreneurs are starting to use lifestreams as a way to compile all of their data from across the web. Here are some possible solutions for those of you looking to compile your life on the web with your own lifestream.

Simple Pie

I’ve went over some of the tutorials on how to get started with Simple Pie before, and I’m a pretty big fan of SimplePie. “SimplePie is a very fast and easy-to-use class, written in PHP, that puts the ‘simple’ back into ‘really simple syndication’.” Getting set up with SimplePie is pretty simple because of the amount of tutorials out there to help you out.

Sweet Cron

“Sweetcron is a free and open source solution for creating a self-hosted Lifestream; a blog-like website that shows your activity across the various websites you visit, entirely automatically.”

Tumblr

Tumblr basically boasts its service on being simple to use. “Tumblr lets you effortlessly share anything. Post text, photos, quotes, links, music, and videos, from your browser, phone, desktop, email, or wherever you happen to be.”

WordPress (through plug-ins)

When talking about usability and the web, WordPress always seems to come up. When talking about lifestreams, the situation is no different. You can use some of the following plug-ins to incorporate your lifestream into your WordPress blog.
