Five sites to see and upload great photos

Posted in Photography with One Comment

Everybody loves photographs. They spark memories, amuse us and even spark debates. The internet is full to the brim with photos, but you can’t necessarily find the good ones, unless you know where to look.

So if you want to take a short break from your Facebook feed, partypoker or your dissertation, where can you go to find them? Here are five sites that help you do just that.

Lolcats – Need cheering up? Then go to Lolcats. The titles pretty self explanatory. People upload photos of cats that will make you laugh out loud. Their database is expanding every days, so you’ll never run out of amusing material to browse through.

Pinterest – As a relatively new social network, this site does what Facebook never quite managed. Making photos easier to share. It’s similar to Tumblr, but instead of following a blog, you follow a ‘pin board’, which others will ‘pin’ pictures they like to. And you can create your own pin boards to join in the fun.

Flickr – You may notice that a lot of the websites which feature awesome pictures, originally get them from Flickr. The site is a community site that allows you to upload and share your photos with other people. Accounts are free and it’s easy to search through.

Photobucket – One of the older photo uploading sites, this one is still relevant today, although it has lost popularity in recent years. However it’s had several years to accumulate a massive haul of photos. If you make an account, you don’t have to share your photos though. You can make them private.

Tumblr – If it’s out there on the web, and it’s very cute, the likelihood is it will end up on Tumblr. If it’s really cute it will be reblogged so often, that it will no doubt appear on your dashboard at some time. Or you can just search through tags like ‘cute pictures’ ‘cats’ ‘dogs’ ‘funny picture’ etc.
